Massive (Buddhist) Attack

Around my dharma centre, one of the many western-tibetan (post-modern) buddhist spaces, there is a definite division amongst the community between those that are into the ritual/chanting/puja aspects of the religion and those that have a strong aversion to it.

Personally, I find myself an advocate of the former. I totally understand the reasoning and the sentiments of the opposing camp, but to me there is something deep and profound about song. Just like all those songs about love, blossoming relationships and/or break-ups, that touch your core, I find that being able to open up and sing really opens my heart. I totally sympathise with the ‘Rock’n'Roll’ Pentecostal movement that is capturing the attention of young Christians, and causing headaches for traditional Christian communities internationally.
