I have a strange way of judging how "well" my practice is going. If it is going well, I naturally care for others in my mind. And a little thing is that as I do my daily tasks, I'm more aware of little details I could do better, like pick up a cup on the way out of the bathroom as I am going to the kitchen. When it is "bad" I'm more likely to be worried about my own tribulations, and caught up in what I "ought" to be doing less.
